Prayers.

Chudleigh Rectory.

THE Bill, sent from the Lords, intituled, An Act for the Settlement of the Rectory of Chudleigh in the County of Devon, unto Thomas Lord Clifford, and others, was read the Second time.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill be committed to Sir Robert Howard, Sir William Coventrey, Mr. Wynn, Mr. Cheney, Mr. Palmes, Mr. Prideaux, Sir John Lowther, Sir Anth. Irby, Sir Edw. Barcham, Sir Leoline Jenkins, Sir Jonath. Trelawney, Mr. Chalmondley, Sir John Roll, Sir Charles Harbord, Sir John Bramston, Sir Edmond Windham, Lord Ancram, Sir Edw. Phillipps, Sir Will. Lowther, Sir Trevor Williams, Sir Philip Warwicke, Mr. Titus, Lord Ashley, Mr. Nich. Morrice, Sir Philip Musgrave, Sir Rich. Ingolsby, Lord Richardson, Sir Rich. Collingwood, and all that serve for the County of Devon: And they are to meet at Two of the Clock this Afternoon, in the Speaker's Chamber: And to send for Persons, Papers, and Records.

Streets and Highways.

Ordered, That the Committee to which the Bill for Repair of the Streets and Highways within the Bills of Mortality . . . . be revived: And that these Persons following be added to the Committee; viz. Lord St. John, Lord Allington, Sir John Lowther, Mr. Weld, Mr. Attorney Mountague, Colonel Birch, Mr. Cornwallis, Mr. Cheney, Sir Thom. Chichley, Mr. Henry Seymour, Sir Anth. Cope, Mr. Neale, Sir Will. Smith, Colonel Whitley, Sir Charles Sidley, Mr. King, Mr. Spry, Mr. Norton, Lord Cornbury, Sir Gilbert Gerrard.

Ordered, That the Committee to which the Bill concerning the Highways was committed, be revived; and do sit this Afternoon, at Three of the Clock, in the Place formerly appointed.

Charles I. Martyrdom.

A Bill for the better Observation of the Thirtieth of January, being the Martyrdom of King Charles the First, was read the Second time.

Resolved, &c. That the said Bill be committed to Sir Lancelot Lake, Sir Solomon Swale, Sir John Rolles, Mr. Westphaling, Sir John Covert, Sir Edw. Masters, Lord Richardson, Sir Philip Warwick, Mr. Vaughan, Mr. Berty, Mr. Culliford, Mr. Cheney, Sir Thomas Allen, Mr. Maynard, Sir Anthony Irby, Sir Charles Harbord, Lord Ashley, Colonel Titus, Sir Edw. Phillips, Sir John Trevor, Sir Solomon Swale, Mr. Hobby, Mr. Crouch, Sir Leoline Jenkins, Mr. Harrison, Mr. Trelawney: And all that shall come are to have Voices: And they are to meet To-morrow at Three of the Clock in the Afternoon, in the Speaker's Chamber: And have Power to send for Persons, Papers, and Records.

Tavestocke Writ.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker do issue out his Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown, to make out a new Writ, for electing a Member to serve for the Borough of Tavestocke in the County of Devon, in the Room of George Howard Esquire, deceased.

Observation of Sunday.

Ordered, That a Bill be brought in for the better Observation of the Lord's Day:

And it is referred to Sir William Lowther, Sir Charles Harbord, Sir Anthony Irby, Sir Trevor Williams, to take Care of the Bill.

Earl of Salisbury's Estate.

Sir John Mounson reports from the Committee to which the Bill, sent from the Lords, to enable the Earl of Salisbury to let Leases of certain Lands and Tenements, was committed, some Amendments agreed to be made to the said Bill: Which he read, with the Coherence, in his Place: Which being twice read, and, upon the Question, severally agreed;

Resolved, &c. That the said Bill, with the Amendments agreed to, be returned to the Lords:

Protestant Dissenters.

Mr. Powle reports from the Committee to which the Bill for Ease to such of his Majesty's Protestant Subjects, Dissenters, in Matters of Religion, from the Church of England, some Amendments, agreed by the Committee to be made, and Provisoes to be added, to the Bill: Which he read in his Place; and after delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table.

The Amendments to the Preamble being twice read, was, with the Omission of some Words, before in the Bill, agreed.

The rest of the Amendments and Provisoes were twice read, and, upon the Question, severally agreed.

A Proviso was opened and tendered, to be added to the Bill, for repealing the Clauses in the former Acts, concerning the Abjuring of the Covenant.

The Question being put, That this Proviso be read;

A Proviso being tendered, to this Effect, That the Renunciation of the detestable Oath commonly called The Solemn League and Covenant, be offered to none but such who have taken it; and, that such subscribe for themselves, and not others; to be made Part of the said Bill, was read the First and Second time.

Resolved, &c. That it be referred to the said Committee, or any Five of them, to word and amend the said Proviso upon the Debate of the House: And they are to meet this Afternoon, at Five of the Clock, in the Speaker's Chamber.

Committees.

Ordered, That all Committees that were to sit this Afternoon, be adjourned till To-morrow, at Two of the Clock in the Afternoon, to sit in the Places formerly appointed; except the Committee to whom the Bill for Ease to Dissenters from the Church of England was committed.
