PRAYERS.

Declaration.

ORDERED, That Sir Rob. Coke, and Sir Wm. Lewis, and Mr. Arthur Goodwyn, shall presently withdraw; and examine the Declaration; and present the same to this House.

Victory in Ireland.

A Letter from the Lords Justices of the Ninth of May; and a Relation of a great Victory obtained by Sir Charles Coote, wherein he lost his Life by an unfortunate Shot from One of his own Men.

Money for Ireland.

It is Ordered, That some of the Members of the Committee of Adventurers of this House go unto the Committee of Adventurers of London, to consider what present Monies they can spare for the Service of Ireland: They are likewise to send for Mr. Lawrence Halsteed, Mr. Tho. Smyth, and Mr. Isaac Jones; and to persuade them to join with the rest of the Company of the Merchant Adventurers, in Advancing of Monies for the important Service of Ireland; and to shew them the Letters from Ireland; and to send them forthwith back again;

Sir Sam. Rolle, Mr. Long, Sir Jo. Evelyn, Mr. Crue, Mr. Vassall, Mr. Bond, Mr. Hampden, Sir H. Mildmay, Sir Wm. Waller, Mr. Browne, Mr. Ven, Mr. Spurstoe, Ald. Soame, Sir Rich. Cave, Ald. Pennington, or any Six of them.

Grant to Sir C. Coote's Children.

Resolved, upon the Question, That the Lords be moved to join with this House, to beseech his Majesty to bestow the Lands of Florence Fitzpatrick, a Rebel, upon Sir Charles Coote's Children, according to the Desires of the Lords Justices.

Articles against Judge Bartlett.

Ordered, That a Message be sent to the Lords, to desire that "John Overmann," in One of the Articles against Judge Bartlett, may be amended and made "Tho. Overman," and in another Article "Jo. Brookes" made "Matthew Brookes:" And Mr. Pierrepointe is appointed to go up with this Message to the Lords.

Ordered, That Mr. Serjeant Cresswell and Mr. Serjeant Hide, be added to the Committee appointed to manage the Evidence against Judge Berkeley: And this Committee is appointed to sit this Afternoon.

King's Oath, &c.

Mr. Selden, Mr. Glyn, Mr. Whistler, Sir Sym. D'Ewes, Mr. Whittlock, Mr. Solicitor, Mr. Grimston, Mr. Reynolds, Mr. Bridgeman, Sir Tho. Widdrington, Mr. Constantine, Mr. Fienis, Mr. Lisle, Mr. Pierrepointe;

This Committee, or any Two of them, is to consider of the Form of the King's Oath, as it is upon Record, and in Books of good Authority, and of the Statute of 25° E. III. concerning the same; next, to consider, whether Kings in refusing Bills, in former Times, gave any other Answer, than Le Roy s'avisera; and to consider what Persons have been proceeded against for High Treason, notwithstanding they had the King's Command; and to search Precedents, what Parliaments have done heretofore, in like Case of the King's Absence from Parliament; and the Parliament's putting Forces in Places of Strength, to preserve them for the King and Parliament: And they are to meet this Afternoon, at Two of Clock, and, afterwards, at such Times and Places, as they shall think fit.

Person sent for.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Mr. Frane, of Pembroke Hall in Cambridge, who, Yesterday, preached in the Forenoon at Paule's, be forthwith sent for, as a Delinquent, by the Serjeant at Arms attending on this House: And that he be required to bring the Copy of the Sermon with him.

King's Refusal to pass a Bill.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Edw. Leech and Dr. Littleton;

The Lords have commanded us to deliver unto you this Letter, and the Message inclosed; which is directed "To be communicated to this House;" the which they desire may be sent back to them, so soon as it shall be read.

The Letter was of the Thirteenth of this Month, dated at Yorke; and the Message inclosed was concerning his Majesty's refusing to pass the Bill for Levying of Ten thousand Men.

Articles against Judge Berkeley.

Mr. Pierrepointe brings Answer, That the Lords have agreed to the Amendments desired by this House, in the Articles against Judge Berkeley.

Declaration.

Sir Wm. Lewis carried up to the Lords the Declaration; and was appointed to desire their Lordships Concurrence and Expedition therein; and that it may be printed and published in all Parish Churches: and that if they shall doubt of any Matter of Fact, they shall be ready to give them Satisfaction at a Conference.

Affairs in Yorkshire.

A Letter from the Committees at Yorke, of the Thirteenth of this Instant Month, and divers Papers inclosed; viz. A Petition from the Freeholders of the County of Yorke, and their Protestation; his Majesty's Speech and Propositions to the Gentry; and the Answer of both Parties to his Majesty's Propositions; and his Majesty's Answer to them; were this Day read.

Resolved, upon the Question, That this Letter and the Papers inclosed, be printed and published.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Thanks be returned to the Committees at Yorke for their Care: And that they return Thanks to the Sheriff, and those Gentlemen and Freeholders of the County of Yorke, that in the whole Carriage of this Business, expressed their Affections and Loyalty to the King and Parliament.

Resolved, upon the Question, That a Message be sent to the Lords this Afternoon, so soon as they are set; and a Conference desired, concerning Letters received from the Committees at Yorke: And that at That Conference, those Letters and Papers inclosed be read, and delivered; and the Lords desired to join with this House in an Order, That they may be forthwith printed and published; and that an Answer be sent to the Committees, and Thanks returned unto them, for their Care in the Carriage of these Businesses; and that they return Thanks to the Sheriff, and those Gentlemen and Freeholders of the County of Yorke, who in all these Proceedings have expressed their Affection and Loyalty to the King and Parliament.

SIR Tho. Barrington went up to the Lords, to desire a Conference, by a Committee of both Houses, according to the Order of the Morning.

Sir Tho. Barrington brings Answer, That the Lords will give a present Meeting, in the Painted Chamber, as is desired.

Contribution for Ireland.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Fifteen hundred Pounds of the Contribution-money, now in Cash, shall go to Dublyn, for the Service of Ireland.

Contribution-money.

The Question was propounded, whether the Committee for Contribution-money should be suspended.

And then the Question was put, whether this Question should be now put: And

It passed with the Negative.

Letters from Yorke.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Edw. Leech and Dr. Littleton;

The Lords have likewise received Letters from their Committees at Yorke: And if there be any thing in Their Letters which is not in Yours, they desire to communicate it at this Conference.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; That this House has resolved to give a present Meeting to that Purpose, as is desired.

The Managers of our Conference are appointed Reporters of the Conference desired by the Lords.

Parliament Guard.

That the Order of the Fifth of May, concerning the Sheriffs of London and Middlesex sending down a complete Company, of London or Middlesex, under the Command of Major Skippon, to attend both Houses of Parliament, shall continue till the said Houses shall take farther Order.

Referred to the Committee of both Houses, to prepare the Letter to the Committees.

Message to Lords.

Sir Gilbert Gerard is appointed to go to the Lords, to desire them to sit awhile; to desire that the Committees of both Houses, concerning his Majesty's last Messages, may meet presently.

He is likewise to carry up the Order concerning the Continuance .. the Order of the Fifth of May, touching the Guard attending the House.

Letter to Yorke Committees.

Ordered, That Mr. Waller shall prepare a Letter in Answer to the Letters received from the Committees at Yorke, according to the Expressions set forth in the Order for the Conference: And that the printed Paper of Summons for a Guard of Horse, upon Friday next, to attend his Majesty, be referred to the Committee of Lords and Commons, appointed to prepare an Answer to his Majesty's last Messages; to consider * * * *.

Money for Ireland.

That Ten thousand Pounds shall be forthwith issued and paid out of the Monies come in by the Adventurers for Ireland, unto Mr. Nich. Loftus, Deputy Treasurer at Wars, or his Assignee; to be sent to Dublyn, for the Service of the Soldiers: And that the said Sum of Ten thousand Pounds shall be repaid unto the said Adventurers, out of the first Monies that shall come in, after that the Engagements already passed shall be satisfied.

Huncks' Arrears.

Resolved, &c. That Colonel Huncks shall be forthwith paid his Arrears due unto him for his Entertainment in the North, by Sir Wm. Uvedall, out of such Monies as he hath in his Hands: And if any thing be made appear hereafter, that any Sums are justly due from him for Billet money, to the Inhabitants of Yorkshire, that then Care shall be taken, such Sums shall be abated out of such Monies as shall be due for his Entertainment in the Service of Ireland.

Affairs at Yorke.

Message from the Lords, by Sir Edw. Leech and Dr. Litleton;

That the Lords do desire a present Conference, by a select Committee of both Houses, how the Meeting of the Horse on Friday next, at Yorke, may be prevented: To that end they have named the Number of Six of their House, and desire a proportionable Number of this House.

Sir H. Vane, Sir Tho. Barrington, Mr. Waller, Mr. Crue, Sir Rob. Cooke, Mr. Pym, Sir Jo. Evelyn, Sir Samuel Rolls, Mr. Cage, Sir Antho. Irby, Sir Pet. Wentworth, Sir Henry Mildmy.

This Committee is to meet with the proportionable Number of the Lords, concerning the Preventing the Meeting of Horse on Friday next.

Aqueduct Money.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for Money, to consider of the Propositions of Money remaining in Bank concerning the Aqueduct.

Loan from Merchant Adventurers.

Ordered, That Sir Hen. Mildmy, Sir Tho. Barrington, or any Two of the rest of the Committees appointed to treat with the Merchant Adventurers for Money, do go To-morrow Morning, and acquaint them with the Answer of Mr. Halsteed, and of his Willingness to engage himself to lend Money for the Service of the Commonwealth; and to desire the Merchant Adventurers to return their speedy Answer, touching the Proposition of lending of Monies, this Day made unto them; and to send for Mr. Tho. Smith and Mr. Isaac Jones to receive their Answer.

Parliament Guards, &c.

Sir Gilbert Gerard brings Answer, That the Lords will join with this House in the Order concerning the Guards; and their Committee shall meet with a Committee of this House presently, as is desired.

King's Answer to Message.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of both Houses, appointed to sit To-night, to consider of his Majesty's Answer, concerning the Message sent to his Majesty for the Levying of Men.

Irish Adventurers.

Ordered, That the Adventurers of additional Forces by Sea, for the Relief of Ireland, shall have Three hundred Barrels of Powder out of Guildhall, London; paying for them according to the Rates proportioned by this House.

Ministers Maintenance.

Ordered, That all, that will come, shall have Voices at the Committee appointed to consider of the Establishing and Maintaining a Preaching Ministry; and at the Committee for the Bill for the better Maintenance of the Ministry, which is joined unto it; and for the Feoffees for Impropriations, which is referred to the same Committee. And they are to meet on Wednesday next, at Two, in the Court of Wards; and afterwards, de die in diem, as they shall think fit.

Raising Money.

Ordered, That the same Order to consider the Raising of present Monies, shall stand for To-morrow, as was made for this Day.
